Remote for a Reason

Join us as we collaborate with Covenant House to help bring their Remote for a Reason Campaign to life in Fellowship Hall!
Covenant House Michigan is a local branch of a national organization committed to raising awareness and providing resources to end youth homelessness. Each year in preparation for the worldwide Sleep Out Event, they coordinate a month of thoughtful and produced events asking folks who work remotely to reflect on their mission. Most of us have the privilege of working from home on remote workdays — but what if you didn’t have a home to work from? For thousands of young people in our community, that’s their reality. Not everyone can spend the night with Covenant House for their Sleep Out event, so they created Remote for a Reason: a way for people to spend a day working from local coffee shops, cafés, or coworking spaces while supporting Covenant House Michigan.
On November 5th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, we will be offering two incredible opportunities for guests to participate in Remote for a Reason. At the coffee bar there will be a few special menu items for you to try out, a dollar of each transaction will be donated directly to the cause. We’ve also got something for all of our incredible remote workers who frequent our cafe – for a small donation of your choice, we will be opening up Fellowship Hall for a quiet workspace to completely sprawl out and lock in with unlimited drip coffee all day.
Can’t make it out on November 5th? Consider taking part in Sleep Out. On Thursday, November 20, teams and individuals across North America will commit to giving up the comfort of their bed and take part in the Annual Sleep Out to raise awareness and support for youth experiencing homelessness. Locally, Covenant House Michigan (CHMI) will host events in both Detroit and Grand Rapids, in addition to sleepers participating from a variety of locations across the state. Participants from Anchorage to New York and Vancouver to Guatemala will come together to raise awareness and funds to support Covenant House’s life-changing work helping young people leave the streets and begin new lives. Funds raised by the participants will help further the Unconditional Love, Absolute Respect, Relentless Support, and vital services for the homeless, abandoned, trafficked, and exploited youth we are honored to serve.
