Tai Chi with Chalene Jones

Chalene has been practicing for 10 years, and teaching for the past 5. She has learned the Yang 24 Cane form, and continues to deepen her internal understanding of Taiji and Qi Gong. She has taught in small one- on- one spaces and large semester long workshops at Universities. She has had the pleasure of working within her own black queer community, and with labor organizers. The foundations of Taiji remain the same no matter the student or audience, and it is her hope to stay true to these foundational principles.
Taiji ( Tai Chi) is an internal martial art that focuses on cultivating and distributing life force energy throughout the body. Stillness in mind, breath, and circular continuous movements gently stretch the body muscles and organs, while also regulating the nervous system.
With time and practice, a softness and calmness of mind develops which can direct qi energy to lead the body into strength, balance, and grounding. The healing abilities of this art are profound, and can be accessed through careful attention to the foundational principles of posture and mind intention, as originally translated through the classic texts written by Masters over the centuries.
